[Sounds of Shanghai] Recorded May 9, 2009 at Longhua Temple in Shanghai. The weather was a sweltering 33 Degrees Celsius but that didn't stop the hundreds of people to visit the Temple and pray for wealth, health, and luck. The most familiar sound at the temple is the chink of the coins in the donation boxes and on the stone floors outside with people trying to shoot it in a metal lantern. There were many golden Buddhas in their own beautifully decorated pavilions. At 10:50 the resident Monks sang their last prayers for the morning. Their chant lasted for more than 20 minutes- here is an interesting excerpt with various tempos and vocal harmonies.
