Ollie Gibson & Andrew Brown - Plannets & Puppets [UJR 015] OUT NOW ! !

Ollie Gibson & Andrew Brown continue their streak of success with their collaborative project and presents us at Union Jack with a stormer of a 2-track EP called "Lightfall". Jorge Takei, Luis Leon & Wonkers join the duo in this release as remixers.

The title track "Lightfall" starts off with a xylophone-esque melody, soon accompanied with a bassline of the same pattern, a retro-styled drumline and 'digital feeling' vocals. The break refreshes the groove by introducing yet another disco influenced element, a screaming lead, concluding with a cool funky riff after the drop. Guaranteed to give you a whiff of nostalgia yet so current. Supporting the EP would be the second track, "Planets & Puppets". The duo's signature bassline, joined by glassy chords, melodic synthwork & wonky little tidbits gelled together by thumping drums make this a perfect B-side.

Having said that, the EP wouldn't be complete without a set of 3 quality remixers, all taking their jab at "Lightfall". First up to the task is the man-of-the-moment - Jorge Takei, who takes on a more heavier route with the groove, stripping & slowing it down to level 'sexy'. Next up is Luis Leon, who's had some heavy success under his belt & this one's no different. His floor driven summer rendition uses the xylophonesque parts sparingly & sprinkles it with vocals and new melodic bits. Last but not the least are the wonderkids "Wonkers" with their heavy bottom end & peak-time interpretation.
