Crafted in 2002, Houston-based Uni.form Recordings was birthed through inspiration from the release of house-inspired “Soulquarian” by Sista Stroke. Uni.form, the brainchild of renaissance man Jake Childs (Blu-Fin/takt/Bush Records/OM/Freerange), neither looked nor sounded like anything else on the market. A head-to-toe reflection of Childs with his characteristic tension between styles that made him the object of fascination and curiosity, Uni.form similarly played upon the advantageous conflict derived from the sparring of house and techno together, before many other labels would be so brave. With hard edged electronic sounds dueling against the soul of disco, Uni.form as a label was anything but uniform in its sound.
In short order, the label earned legions of followers who turned to the brand as a trusted and forward-thinking source of things to come. With his natural intuition to see the best and hidden talents in others, Jake Childs utilized the label as a platform to help others in the house scene, opening up collaborations with up & coming, like-minded music producers while working towards that presently unparalleled future sound. Upon the onset of 2011, Uni.form breathes a new fire forming a slew of new releases with hot, rising artists set to roll out throughout the year.
You and I form one.
