We passed a beach called First Encounter and another called Sunken Meadow. The streets were lined with shops closed for the season and they are truly far better that way. I imagine the toothache; sugar rush; the crash; the unavoidable nap, all at the wheel of the car.

In the bathroom at the hippie restaurant the walls were lined with yellowed pages from an out of date fanatical religious newspaper. One headline read: "Love is Hard" and the only graffiti in the room was written below: "this is so true".

We drove on, wanting to plunge into the future, breaking our wings in the turbulence. We searched for 360 views. Places where we could breathe in clean air and melting orange clouds. To be so overwhelmed in the beauty of some place that we'll bleed words, like a fountain of poems. Together, we hunt this escape, this adventure, this promise. You want it all right now. I bother asking "Who is hiring? What can I even do?". False refuge through stalling, because we know we'll learn to knit scarves with nooks for cold thumbs for a living and use the money to roam from starry sky to starry sky like new moon nomads.
