About
Ulrich Maximilian recently surprised at Rainbow Serpent Festival 2013, presenting 90 minutes of original sound design and production which took him months of synthesizing and field recording to complete. Being placed right in the middle of the crowd and quadrophonic speakers in each corners, right under the stunning centre piece of the amazing Bamboo structure at Rainbow Serpent Chill Stage, enabled Ulrich to fully connect with the crowd and to engineer the sound to maximum quality and spacial experience. He stands for mind bending cinematic sound design combined with organic electronic bass music of intricate detail and sacred frequencies, reaching another level of conscious dance partying.
The Melbourne based German is engineering music not just as a listening, but as a full body physical experience on large scale sound systems. He is evoking the oldest primal rite of humanity using modern day technology: The voyage into an elevated state of mind, an acoustic journey shared as a communal ecstatic experience. Injecting the sagacity and madness of a german scientist into a shamanistic vibrational sound ritual, no drugs will be required to get high from this experience.
Planehenge Portal Activation (live at sunset, Mutonia, Outback Australia)
The 1 hour performance was activating the Planehenge Portal by sound, guiding the crowd on an acoustic journey through the portal, to various destinations in time and space. Ulrich Maximilian produced all the music himself, and wrote the narrative script just for this place and night.
Acoustic Voyages to Australian places: The Otway Expedition
Dare to follow Ulrich Maximilian on the Otway expedition, a deep rainforest journey of shamanic qualities. Two days before producing this track, he went on an amazing hike deep into the Otway rainforest. Being deeply impressed and inspired by the level of detail, depth and mystery, he processed the experience with this piece of music.
Acoustic Voyages to Australian places: Children of Mutonia
Opener for the sunset performance at Mutonia sculpture park. Sound design and writing inspired by an indigenous set of aesthetics and concepts, with one sustained, altered key note as opposed to a western melody. Enables an elevated state of mind, a natural high through music, as it has been achieved in primal rites for thousands of years. In the studio, Ulrich Maximilian always envisioned himself in a spiritual campfire circle at full moon.
No presets, no samples
Every single instrument and sound in his tracks is synthesized or field recorded by Ulrich Maximilian. His production workflow is completely non linear as all aspects of instrument and sound design, composing, mixing and mastering happen all at the same time and complement each other on the fly. Science becomes art as this extremely accurate, scientific sound engineering style of control over frequencies and vibrations unlocks the true potential of his music. The physics of overlapping frequencies and vibrations become more than the sum of their parts: A universal, transcendent, spiritual experience.
Multidimensional creations
Ulrich Maximilian is multidimensional, as he is also a visionary visual artist as well as a full time car designer, having worked in major automotive studios around the world. He is producing highly intense electronic music and visual art, yet he himself is absolutely free of drugs and alcohol. His crystal clear, pure vision of life is reflected in his music, as clarity and consciousness are his gateway to true transcendence and spirituality. The Ulrich Maximilian vision is a party that replaces confusion with consciousness. Unique outdoor settings and flame-driven illumination allow to look into everyones eyes and faces, further amplifying the primal effect of communal experience and elevation.
