During his career he has worked in a variety of settings and with diverse populations including adolescent drug treatment, chronic pain, spouse abuse, sexual trauma, HIV/AIDS, Dr. Chuck Whetsell is a psychologist in private practice here in Birmingham.

During his career he has worked in a variety of settings and with diverse populations including adolescent drug treatment, chronic pain, spouse abuse, sexual trauma, HIV/AIDS, health psychology, and for eight years, was Director of Behavioral Medicine at a Federal Prison in Lexington, Kentucky.

After finishing an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at Indiana University, Dr. Whetsell completed a Master’s Degree in Buddhist and Western Psychology at Naropa Institute in Boulder, CO.

His doctorate, in counseling psychology, is from the University of Kentucky. In addition to practicing psychology, Chuck travels widely teaching mindfulness-based meditation seminars.
