About

Twisted Frequency launched in 2005, at a time where the club scene had almost fully recovered after the barren years between 2001-2004. In our native UK, rising stars such as James Zabiela and Nic Fanciulli were breathing life into the scene whilst a wave of talented producers were on the rise to superstardom. Skylark, Mylo, Eric Prydz are just three examples of the shining lights of 2004-2005 - and the digital revolution was well underway.

James Harcourt, label owner, had taken a couple of uninspired years out of the scene having enjoyed an early success with progressive / tech track 'Diaspora'. In 2005, it was time to come back with a label and some fresh sounds. A couple of events in Brighton and a selection of track signings with the early help of Glenn Morrison kickstarted Twisted Frequency - and in 2006, the label launched. The tail end of the vinyl years saw the majority of sales in physical form - but the label has seen the shift to digital - with progressive house being the very first to die completely on wax. TF001 sold out on vinyl after 2 weeks and TF003 was featured on Renaissance Masters (Dave Seaman). Subsequent releases gained favour on Beatport.com and DJDownload.com and the label enjoyed high chart placings on every release.

Release by release, the label was gathering momentum. The Electric Press delivered a stunning remix of Dave Robertson (Reset Robot) for TF004 earning plays on Annie Nightingale and Fergie on BBC Radio 1 and James Harcourt's "Loud & Low" earned the label's first Beatport front page advert. CD compilation placements were coming thick and fast and the label was truly established by the end of the year.

Come 2008 - label boss James Harcourt put out the Call & Response E.P and the label sales went through the roof, topping 10,000 on Beatport alone. Tyrell's classic 'LaLaLaLaLala' was another high point the following year. More recently, the label has featured scene stalwarts such as Umek, Pig & Dan as well as fresh talent such as Adam Shaw, Dan Marshall & Dual Drive - as well as being a platform for James Harcourt and his Jackfruit alias.

The core ethos of the label remains form 2005 - no exclusive music policy, just interesting sounding music from talented new producers around the world, established remixers and James Harcourt.
