    From Multiple Choice EP

Beto Narme is the brand new project from the innovative young artist Tufan Demir. Born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, he is a well-known DJ on the alternative club scene there but with his debut EP Multiple Choice, released on Turkey’s first netlabel, he is about to go international.

This first collection of tracks reveals an already very mature artist; one who knows how to carefully convey emotion through music. Multiple Choice sounds more like a film-score than anything and as such these aren’t just ‘tracks’, they are soundscapes drenched in the colours of Istanbul by night. On ‘Outranked Spectacles’ you can feel yourself driving through the city at night, anticipation pumps through the bassline and you are swept away on a melody that manages to be glitchy and smooth all at once. ‘Cellophane Dub’ is the most pure dubstep track on the EP and the breaks and deep bass combined with a rare lightness of touch will give you shivers. As is so often the case in a big sprawling city, there is a pervading and persistent feeling of loneliness in Istanbul - and you can hear that in this music, especially on tracks like ‘Simmer Down’ and ‘Figment Dots’.

As Tufan will say himself, his music tastes are very eclectic and it’s actually not easy to pin one genre on Multiple Choice. It’s a fusion of many elements: ambient, dub-techno, tech-house and dubstep. “I think rather than labelling the whole work as dubstep, it’s better to say that it’s my interpretation of this genre and it’s kind of a response from Istanbul to the whole dubstep rage!” he observes with a smile.
