About
Trevor Brewood is an independent singer/songwriter, born in Luton UK and transported to Brisbane, Australia for not being old enough to have an opinion! Trevor has ‘lived’ in the Brisbane music scene ever since, singing and playing guitar in a number of cover bands and duos as well as performing solo.
2010 / 2011 saw Trevor take time out from the live scene to write and record his new album which will also feature some of Brisbane’s best known and talented musicians. The album, as yet, untitled is due for release in July 2012. The songs, say Trevor were relatively easy to write ‘I know it’s probably a bit cliché but a lot of the songs wrote themselves, about life, relationships and experiences. I love nothing more than sitting at a piano or picking up a guitar and strumming chords that have been played a thousand times before and then hunting down a melody and playing with words to paint a picture. The time consuming part was the process of recording in a home studio to a computer. While it was great to have the freedom of playing around with instruments and arrangements and not be pressured by a time frame, it was also tedious and frustrating at times learning about modern recording techniques. But it was a labour of love and a terrific experience’
Although heavily influenced by the Beatles and Neil Young, Trevor’s love of music extends from classical music to modern day styles. Trevor classes himself as predominately a pop/rock artist but he comfortably crosses into various genres and has even been described by some as folk rock.
2012 promises to be a big year for Trevor. Apart from some acoustic showcases he is also looking forward taking his band out to perform songs from the new album. Trevor will also continue to perform in the Radio Retro duo/band and is also privileged to be playing guitar with one of Australia’s great guitarist’s in Robert James from GANGgajang. Robert will begin performing his acoustic shows in Brisbane early in 2012.
