Toné is the alias of Antonio Nartea, a Bucharest-based DJ and promoter who has been making more-or-less frequent appearances behind decks since 2007.
Heavily influenced by the early-2000’s Downtempo, Breakbeat or Drum&Bass and citing LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records, Tru Thoughts, Ninja Tune, Planet Mu or the early Dark Garage and Dubstep movements as his main inspirations, he started out as a DJ by playing mostly bass-heavy 135-140 bpm sounds, under the Tony031R alias.
In 2010, after three years in which he shared various line-ups with the likes of Loefah & Sgt. Pokes, Caspa, Tes La Rok, Benga, Virus Syndicate, Aquasky, Tomb Crew, TRG, Al Haca meets Crunchtime, Jazzsteppa, Whistla, Corn Flex or Etnik & Fuzz, he finds himself progressing towards a different range of lower tempo styles.
Thus, the second part of his adventure as a DJ unfolds as he finds himself spinning alongside Ben UFO, Ikonika or Wbeeza, managing his own clubnight (BASICS) and regularly playing well-known venues in Bucharest, Timisoara, Targu Mures, Cluj Napoca as well as a small club in Amsterdam, NL.
In 2013, he puts an end to an eighteen month-long hiatus as he returns behind the decks for the first time since winter 2011.
His sets currently range from 120 to 135+ bpm and are best defined as an across-the-board, no-compromise-whatsoever blend of crispy Bass Music, proper House, oldschool Garage and warehouse-bred Techno, with an occasional World Music and Broken Beats touch.
Toné is currently affiliated with BASICS, both as a DJ and as a promoter and has been, in the past, an essential contributor to Dubstep.ro (2007-2010) and HEY! Events (2008-2010).
