“When you feel the sound floating through your veins, you start to think how it can be. When you realize it, you start to think, how to make that the sound will float to other people minds.” – this is every day thought of the sound artist from Lithuania, called Tobias Faar. After long researches of various music types and styles, he decided to make a whole life research in experimental sound. From each time of his personal research he gets the influences from the sounds met in tracks of ambient and experimental electronic music. He is a sound catcher. Sometimes he didn’t record the sounds, but these sounds are always in his mind, and it helps to create his music.
The music he is creating comes from the inside of human feelings, and in this method Tobias is calling his music the “Psychological research of human emotions through simple sound structures”. In his music is created very simple sound with a few structures of sound. “Thee is no need to create difficult soundscapes to see how one or another person reacts in it and what information he gets from the sound” – the analysis of human thoughts and behaviour lets for Tobias to include that simple structures in each sound. Thou each sound comes very abstractive very minimalistic, it helps to express the thought at real time. For that thing, Tobias Faar is always creating and recording his music on real – time without any templates – “sound is accidental, in real – time recording I make that accident”.
In theoretical music style terms, Tobias Faar is the artist of ambient electronic, experimental electronic music. Through the past years he started to use his own-recorded field – recordings from nature, because the nature is the biggest influence in his creation. Through his live performances he is always improvising with the electronic sounds. The sound effects and high frequency sounds are one of his favourite live performance methods. Also in his live performances he is always taking the home environment equipment: cups, plates, glass vases – the useful everyday sound objects.
