timGc – Tim Williamson, is aged 25 and lives in Leicestershire, England. He host his own bassdrive.com show every 2nd, 3rd and 5th sunday of the week (5-7pmGMT) entitled "Rhythm Management"
timGc discovered drum and bass in 1998 when stumbling across a Partisian record by the Future Engineers in his local record shop. It wasn’t the music that got his attention but actually the art work on the vinyl. The record was by Future Engineers – life support/cerulean seas. Coincidental on the same day, he discovered “Progression Sessions 1”, a Candence vinyl by Aural Imbalance and a “Cookin’ Records” ep – the sister label to Good Looking Records. All of these would become a major factor in how Tim is currently inspired to do his mixes.
Tim first started mixing in 2001 and used a simple m-audio usb interface for a basic understanding of cueing, counting and beat matching. After 18 months of the basic he decided it was time to take it to the next level and invested in a Numark mixer and some Pioneer CDJ’s.
LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad came to Sheffield University during their Progression Session tour and was a massive highlight for Tim in his years at university. LTJ Bukem has inspired many dj’s for his smooth, fluent and flowing style of mixing and is also a technique that Tim like’s to use for his mixes gaining a reputation for having energetic and rolling sets.
After Good Looking Records took a break in the mid 2000’s, Tim still focused on the atmospheric sounds of Drum and Bass that initially attracted him to the music. Labels such as Camino Blue Recordings, Candence, Cintamani, Red Mist Recordings, Covert Operations and Warm Communications all feature in his mixes today.
Indigo Sync first played one of timGc’s mixes on Indigo Sync’s own bassdrive show – Atmospheric Chamber. After this ACG Psychotic asked Tim for a few bassdrive mixes as well as Seathasky and recently LM1 from Offworld Recordings. Taking inspiration from aforementioned DJ’s, timGc pushes the energetic, atmospheric sounds on to bassdrive.com, with Rhythm Management.
