About

Lee Underwood, AKA PAXMekanika, started his relationship with dance music as a toddler. What he remembers of childhood was music, constant and persistent. He was born the same year as MTV, 1982. While kids his age were watching cartoons, Lee was analyzing the way music and video combined to create soundscapes for the mind.

Sensitized to sound, Lee was drawn to the emerging electronic music phenomenon. He competed in and won school Lyp-synch contests; performing Bel Biv Devoe's "Poison" goes down as one of his fondest wins. He was 8 years old.

Computerized music composed of 1's and 0's left foul tastes in the mouth of purists, but Lee saw it's potential. He pursued the sound and decided, once and for all, that it would be a permanent part of his life. He sought out DJ's spinning elctro house, hard house, drum and bass, and trance. These adventures took him to long forgotten locations like the Masterdome in San Bernadino, the Fox Theater in Pomona. Gutted Warehouse parties in Downtown LA that raged through the night and were gone by morning. Before he was a DJ he may have been your biggest fan.

PAXMekanika has been DJing the best electro, tech, and face-melting House Music since 2000. While in college he hosted a weekly radio show interviewing local and nationally famous hip hop and Electronic Music Djs. He learned a lot about the business of music--the good and the bad. The very entity that nurtured his passion, MTV, devolved into a reality TV freak show to appease advertisers. But there was a truth to it all, and that came through.

After a brief break to concentrate on teaching philosophy and pursuing a Master's Degree in English from Middlebury College, PAXMekanika is back in big way. His weekly residency at SABABA in Long Beach has reinvented how people chill on Friday Nights and Sunday mornings at The Beach. As a promoter for NyteHype Entertainment, he is able to bring the best Electronic Dance Music to the hearts and souls of people all over Southern California. PAXMekanika is currently working hard to make Long Beach an EDM destination.
