Here's a little 'REMix' I made in an hour or two. Saying remix is a bit generous since all I did was basic Garageband rejiggery but fun nonetheless. Here's what I 'did':
Intro: I stripped out a lot here to make it really bass-heavy. I left the mandolin in (because I love the mandolin) but without the other instruments it sounded a bit harsh so I added a slight echo. The sparse nature of the intro helps to highlight the...
Vocals: this is the part that stands out about the track most for me - the harmony and the melody. So I wanted to make it a bigger part of the focus in the intro, in a creepy, radiohead-esque middle section and right there at the end
Creepy Mid-section: This sounds kinda bad because I'm looping a small section of audio but you get the idea.
Final Chorus: Slimming down the rest of the track really makes the end more climactic. I brought the guitar in more because that really drives this section.
Outro: I wanted to hear more of the guitar on its own so looped that a bit. Also, there's this crazy brass section that you can barely hear during the chorus so I thought it'd be fun to let that loose at the end. And that brings us back to the vocals.
Not a high-tech effort by any means. Just remix culture...
