@raytrace: love it ! Used to hear this 1 in a radio show called Mercado Negro in Portugal way back then !!!
-
@Alkalino: yeh that sound is so crunchy but not quite abrasive I dunno wot it is - digital synth or maybe a cello sample or something?
-

@raytrace: you know my thoughts about this tune!!!absoulutely one of the most important edm records ever made imo.classic.temple of sound on a friday night.still gives me a rush's listening to it nearly 20 years later.
-
@stephen roche: yeh no matter how many times I listen to it - still everytime the wah-wah acidy 'woh-woh' bit and all the crashes come in I smile :)

- stephen roche on June 26, 2009 23:09
@raytrace: all aboard all board....moo moo....moo moo!!!!
- The Observer on June 29, 2009 15:19
@stephen roche: Heart beat a diversion on the classic "What time is love" from KLF, but quite different and much more Belgian style Good stuff m8
-
@The Observer: yeh it was a bit ridiculous when Kopyright Liberation Front tried to sue Liasons D for using the synth line :s
-
@raytrace: Dr.Felix and Klf are definitely my favorites versions ...
-
@Alkalino: yeh I just love the 'New Beat is boring, acid house is dead, this is trance dance...' bit eheh
-
@raytrace: my favourite overall version is the one on the Doctorin The Tardis 12", or one of the versions on the plain black KLF 12" (I cant remember which one though)
-
@raytrace: although you gotta love the 'with the blessings of the Marquis De Sade' intro eheh

- stephen roche on June 26, 2009 23:16
@raytrace: i do like this version.proper warehouse rave.
-
@stephen roche: yeh I think this song would need some serious lasers, dry-ice and strobes :D - moonflowers lol - the other mix is amazing too - the one with the kinda classical synth bits that sounds like a soundtrack to 'The Terminator' or something...
-
@raytrace: oh man the memories with this one...but i prefer the original one !
-
@Alkalino: yeh I love the normal version too, but I was kinda trying to keep a slightly darker/bassier hypnotic feel and I though the piano/strings bit in that version wouldnt sound as good with the rest of the songs

@phresch: i remember this when turning to the b-side and discovering it for the first time better than the a side!
-
@rayspark-industries: yeh it definitely is, while I do have nostalgia for Fairy Dust, I always preferred this the roundness of the bass and cool rolling breakbeat and claps over the massive round kicks just got me instantly when I put it on and the really strobelighty feel of the acid squelches - great stuff :D

Would love to know how you achieved this sound.
-
@Spuddley: if you're talking about the main acid wobbly bit thats a patch I made in Absynth then played around with while pitch-bending a lot, left Wavosaur recording while I did this, then brought it into Ableton and chopped it around a lot - theres a lot of compression on it too I think - if you're talking about the hi-hats - they're my TR-707 filtered through a MiniMOOG D - theres also a fair bit of autopan on them I think - and I think the phasey effect off the UAD CS-1 strip - that can be heard on the backwardsy clap bit too - :)
-
@raytrace: Hmmm... I may have the tools to give it a shot. I do everything in ableton though. I do have Absynth... but am not good at programming it yet.

i think you should do a remix and make that kickdrum bassline the main element.it would destroy.
-
@stephen roche: yeh I do like that mBase01 kick-based bassline - but I think it uses a lot of frequencies and would be difficult to put as a main part of a song - when I try to scoop it with EQ to try and 'seperate' it, it seems to lose a lot of its character too - maybe I should try again though - I was thinking of making a version which was just purely the Absynth-y wobbly bit and heavy beats - I might do that but also have some of this bassline in it for a bit - :)
