Most of us hang around and we wander through the town
And most of the time we just get bored
I could give you what I’ve got but I cant be what I’m not
So forgive me if I’ve wasted your time

I remember riding up Coldharbour Lane
    And going our separate ways
While the racket boys were shouting out loud in the street
Because you were looking real pretty in your bicycle seat
And I cried my eyes out on Camberwell Green
    More wretched I’ve never been

Those folks that live in a cold, wintry climate
Will dream of a hot place to go
Like wise those sweating out under the sun
Often entertain thought of the snow
Everyone wants to get by and sometimes thinks it’s to hard to try any more
Me, I’m at home in the kitchen, I’m bored
And I’m bleeding all over the floor

There’s a capacity for appetite that a whole heaven and earth of cake can’t satisfy
We’re heightened by hope and can cope ‘til we can’t
Plant our seeds and stare up at the sky

I can’t practice what I preach because it’s so far out of reach
It’s impractical, I might be wasting my breath
But I care so very much it confuses me
Such that I’ve been careless and I guess I should apologise

Well I tried real hard to be of worth in your eyes
    And figure out some compromise
But I found I was feeling around in the dark
I realised we done gone lost the spark
And now although the distance between us still grows
I still have a box of your clothes

Those folks that live in a cold, wintry climate
Will dream of a hot place to go
Like wise those sweating out under the sun
Often entertain thought of the snow
Everyone wants to get by and sometimes thinks it’s to hard to try any more
Me, I’m at home in the kitchen, I’m bored
And I’m bleeding all over the floor

There’s a capacity for appetite that a whole heaven and earth of cake can’t satisfy
We’re heightened by hope and can cope ‘til we can’t
Plant our seeds and stare up at the sky

I wish I could just lay me down
    Six feet underground
We thought it would be easier apart
But now I wouldn’t say as such
    This pain in my heart
It’s the price that I’m paying for loving you
    A little too much
