Over the past few years, alongside their own solo projects, Dirk Serries (BE) and Jon Attwood (UK) have been slowly working on a trilogy of albums. This trilogy combines their own individual takes on guitar drone and ambience into something with its own character and style. The resulting music sees their guitars blend into slowly shifting soundscapes that take you to a different place and time. Each album is a continuation of the previous one but differs on an almost subliminal level, making the listener realise over time that The Sleep Of Reason is a slowly mutating, thematic and specific musical entity.
The trilogy will be released as a vinyl box set, including a bonus one-sided LP featuring the complete recording their succesful debut concert at the TF100 Tonefloat festival, March 27th 2011, by Tonefloat Records in September 2012.
Dirk Serries is one of Belgium’s most prolific and creative forces in the experimental and ambient scene. Over a timespan of more than 26 years vidnaObmana, Fear Falls Burning and Microphonics have become Dirk Serries' personal triptych in analysing, dissecting, creating and processing sound. From the early industrial, the minimal synth ambient, the genre-splicing tribal fusion, the overpowering guitardrones to the pure, straightforward and minimal guitarambience. His large body of work has been released worldwide on various labels and is currently signed to the Dutch vinyl specialist Tonefloat.
Jon Attwood is a British guitarist who grew out of the early 80s punk scene to, as Yellow6, create a large body of solo guitar music based around loops, drones and arpeggios that has, between 1998 and the present, numbered over 150 releases on a variety of labels from around the globe.
