The River

The River is a symbol of flow...of movement in continuous motion. As humans, we are reminded that our lives are also constantly in motion - rippling across time and space, unfolding event by event. Our resistance to this flow of motion comes only from our questioning of its rightness - its trustworthiness, as perceived at any one moment - a direct reflection of our own self-doubt and lack of self-trust. If we can first understand that fear arises only from our own uncertainty of a river’s journey, then we can instead begin to develop trust in our certainty of it, and realize that every journey we take is always exactly equal to our expectations of it along the way.
