3:05: The Senate expense-spending mess continues to unfold. Earlier in the week, senator Mike Duffy continued his attacks on his former colleagues in the Conservative Party and the RCMP, in court documents released yesterday, suggested senator Pamela Wallin committed fraud and breach of trust through the filing of fraudulent expense claims. The Mounties have also demanded several versions of Wallin's Senate calendar, suggesting these versions of that electronic calendar may hold evidence to support the RCMP's allegations.
Meanwhile, PM Stephen Harper during his speech at the CPC Calgary convention made passing mention of Duffy, Wallin and Brazeau, continuing to insist they be suspended without pay and/or benefits.
Liberals in Canada's Senate have argued for the continuation of the hearings into Duffy's, Wallin's and Brazeau's conduct.
Guest: Senator James Cowan. Liberal Senate leader.
3:20: The LAST WORD to Callers: TWO QUESTIONS:
Q1: Rob Ford: Based on what you heard last hour, should the Toronto Mayor stay in office and fight it out, or step aside now?
Q2: Suspend Duffy, Wallin and Brazeau right now, or is the story too big and the opportunity for a national public demand of a public audit of expense-spending by all parliamentarians to great to pass up? (*A Nova Scotia former MLA was imprisoned 4 months in October for fraudulent expense claims)
