theo tzu is a deejay, producer, and promoter from Winnipeg, MB, Canada.
theo got his start in 2001 with JNL Cinemafunk (then Flux Capacitor) playing house parties and jungle raves under the alias Dexx. By the age of 17, theo was running a weekly jungle club night called Next Revolution @ The Collective Cabaret (later known as Transition) with Messmer & Cortex. Around that time, theo teamed up with MC Four20 and began throwing shows under the alias Dirtydog Productions.
He went on to start WinnipegJungle.com which served as the meeting place for junglists online in Winnipeg for 4 years strong. During this time, from 2004-2008, theo & DJ Riddim hosted a radio show on CJUM 101.5 UMFM in Winnipeg called Bassline Dropouts. Which eventually morphed into Rinseout Radio FM, simulcasting on UMFM and BassDrive.com.
Nowadays you can find theo on the radio each week on CKUW 95.9 FM in Winnipeg every Tuesday from 10pm-12 (CST) with co-hosts Selektah Coda & MC PuConA (aka Phantohm Soundsystem) for Dub City Steppers, and every Friday from 12am-2 (CST) on Sub.FM. theo’s current project is called mixtechs deejays, which serves as a production company and website documenting the adventures of theo and his friends in Winnipeg and around Canada.
Over the years, theo has had several releases on record labels such as: Balanced Records (as T. Poirier w/ Cain.1 & DJ Brace), Monkey Dub Recordings & In Da Jungle Recordings (as Natural Selectors, Safe Crackers and Lucky Souljahz), and more forthcoming on Phantohm Soundsystem with Turtilian.
