...a little arrangement / recording I put together today of the main theme from John Carpenter's 1982 classic, "The Thing".... the original was composed by Ennio Morricone, of course.....

An amazing interpretation of the soundtrack! Clearly, jazz improv is the warmest place to hide.

@the Jive Monkey Cartel: In that case, I love all things Thing...in fact, like raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, this is one of my favorite things.

@Derek Cornett: ....nice animated description, it was just a spur-of-the-moment thing... here I go again with yet another digression.... lol .... I used to practice playing "delayed parts" between the hands. Basically to imitate what a digital delay or slapback does with a circuit. Per this particular instance of it, the left hand is playing on the next highest adjacent string set, while the right is "under it", if you will. If you extend this concept to include harmonic perturbations, the result is what we have in this particular example.

neat part here... the "Thing" momentarily dissolves and then reconstitutes itself....:)

Very nice technique, and an imaginative arrangement. I would love to hear you tackle "Halloween theme" by Carpenter, although MX-80 Sound's version would be tough to beat.

@the Jive Monkey Cartel: you are very keen on music research. often, any musical tunes have compartmentalized approach to the specific genre as I think has a similar feature of function of the hospital departments. However, the body does not have each been split is not. I think it should be a comprehensive approach to music as well. so.....I think jazz should be evolved. but we some get difficult... because audience often are regarded as experimental approach. yeh..Please let us more surprised in the future. thanks

@Fibonacch: ...interesting point... thanks for checking it out.......... I think virtually any pop culture theme(s) can be adapted by the jazz establishment, if they are intrepid enough to reach out, that is......
