The sun, out there, is calling for me. But this Fusion ProgRock track is keeping me inside. And I must listen to Weather Report cover too ...Please help ....

@John McLaughlin: .... believe it or not, knowing what's going on can be a limitation in some regards (at least for me).... sometimes I have to just force myself to disconnect from patterns, etc..... it seems like the less you care about what you're doing from an ego standpoint, the easier it is to connect, or rather sidestep into new creative areas.. obviously, this is very difficult because most people try to use their art to define their very existence... music is such a psychological process sometimes....

@Dan Ling: well thanks Dan,... for years I kinda avoided living in the musical moment when composing.. but it's really immediate and often times a much better reflection of who we are, what we know, and what we're trying to do..... the kind of stuff that I want to hear doesn't really fit neatly into one particular genre... I'd love to get this kind of interplay going amongst other musicians, but it kind of destroys or detracts from the process unless you have the right people on board :)

@Rudolf Schmitt: :) no connection... ..I just used the mandelbrot set because I find them to be extremely interesting....

Amazing composition. I love the dark, mysterious feel.

Great title and truly inspiring music. Is there a connection between Coleridge and Mandelbrot? Suspending disbelief in view of fractal composition (it doesn't sound fractal at all ...)?

The interplay between yourselves is rather amazing actually. You listen and react really well, in the best tradition of jazz improv.

This is a really nice personal glimpse into your inner Tory!

@the Jive Monkey Cartel: Too true, Tory. Never having learned to read music, I go for the plug in and play approach. Unfortunately by the time I have played it, I forget what I have done, so everything comes as a surprise. With your depth of knowledge, you obviously know what you are doing all the time and it shows!

@John McLaughlin: ...... :) I suppose most of the composition takes place in the noggin first... ...I used to spend hours and hours fretting over note choices and whatnot, but that's kind of counter-intuitive isn't it?

Mmmm! A tasty extravaganza! I was reading your description of how you composed this: the track was composed in 30 minutes, then you add all the colouring? Amazing! To be able to do this just underlines your absolute mastery of music. And you have added a Mandelbrot!

@Sun Tower: ...well a big thanks to you.... actually I just kind of try to "envision it" in my head and then, when the time is right, I sit down and play it.... ...used to write purely from a notational perspective, which takes a really long time (and doesn't instantly yield feel / velocity data like playing it does).... now, I prefer to perform / compose... for example, this entire piece is really just me playing two-handed guitar and then orchestrating it according to what I had in mind before I started recording..... what I mean is, no additional parts were added to the original polyphonic performance, aside from effects or whatnot....and of course the drums were "performed" via the nanopad after the initial construct was put together.... maybe I'll transpose things into different octaves, but that's about it..... this entire piece was written on Sat. in around an 30 mins, then I orchestrated it over the following few hours,..... bounced all the files into an audio mixing program.... then of course a mixdown was in order..... limiting, placement, effects, compression, phasing, etc... thanks for listening.... :)

Tory - you are wickedly talented. How do you come up with this stuff? Do you write it out first, or just kinda wing it? Whatever you're doing, it's pure genius!!

Maybe you fall into the gig with some Cuban musicians.....I also admire it.

Hmmmm, intriguing and absorbing. Love the end ambience. Hope the 'secret project' comes to a successful fruition, Tory.
