@Richard Lopez: .....often times when musicians (who have been deeply entrenched in conventions) hear super-triplet subdivisions juxtaposed with sixteenth notes and quintuplets, etc... they interpret it as being somehow "wrong"...or "not in time"...... lol Like, we're only supposed to use subdivisions of 2, 4, or the occasional triplet/sextuplet run to construct lines? haha....

@the Jive Monkey Cartel: that's what separates the ordinaries from the extra-ordinaries lol

@Richard Lopez: Thanks so much.....a long time ago I was playing with this larger band doing a "funk-ballad" version of an older swing tune called "Angel Eyes", it kind of changed my viewpoint of what we typically classify as being the emotional "slower tune"......I really like trying to fuse rhythmic elements into pieces that are typically considered to be "slow songs" or ballads..... you can really do a lot of subdivided metrics and so forth that probably wouldn't work in other situations..........I suppose it's some form of human quantization applied to a rubato feel? haha

Awesome guitar playing! I always wanted to learn this fingerstyle-comp&melody-at-the-same-time-jazz thing. How, the hell, you do that? I hate you! ;) It would be great to see you playing that on youtube!

Superbly played, as ever, Tory. Have you ever worked as a duo with a horn player? I could see that combo working really well with pieces like this.
