This inspired Ayers and Pastorius groove coming up works so damn well before Dolphy and Hancock jump on board again and start cooking up a slow dynamite funk cinematic underscore. If I had a dog I'd dance with it. This is top shelf fusion. Great work.

The reflective sobriety of that intro really lulls you into a false sense of knowledge before dropping that percussive lick on you. The tone and character then performs some inspired gymnastics around a central theme of subtle poignancy.
