Launching the UK festival season each spring, London’s award winning Camden Crawl has become a calendar fixture renowned for showcasing the forthcoming year’s most hotly tipped live music artists to sell out audiences since its inception in 1995. In fact, over the years, each of the following artists played the festival when they were little known start ups launching their careers: Mogwai, Beth Orton, Snow Patrol, Hot Chip, Maximo Park, The Cribs, Mystery Jets, Plan B, Klaxons, Maccabees, Guillemots, Paolo Nutini, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Biffy Clyro, Foals, Friendly Fires, Kate Nash, Example, Frank Turner, Laura Marling, Professor Green, Florence & The Machine, Mumford & Sons, Kano, Noah & The Whale, , The XX, The Temper Trap, The Drums, Eliza Doolittle, Katy B, Maverick Sabre and the list goes on…
Now in its 11th year, the Crawl continues to act as a conduit for the best emerging artists to appear alongside surprise guests and seminal legends in front of die-hard music lovers, music industry and media under one umbrella. The event prides itself in making live music and the arts affordable and accessible to everyone and, equally, aims to grow community between the artists appearing, fans and the independent promoters behind the scenes. In order to do so, the Crawl maintains a policy to democratically book talent via a diverse committee of UK tastemakers and promote its artists on a level playing field. And, to further enhance exposure for performers and create unique value for punters, the ticket price includes a free download compilation album, magazine and programme guide featuring the talent appearing at the festival.
In 2007, the festival expanded across a weekend and has, by day, now become a sprawling multi faceted arts event featuring comedy & spoken word, film, pop quizzes, eclectic live music, crafts & art workshops, karaoke, exhibitions and more. By night, the two mile-long stretch of pavement assumes its annual position as an all out live music extravaganza playing host to more than 250 of the best new talents performing across the area’s infamous venues.
As always, tickets for the festival are exchanged for a wristband at the main entrance point allowing unlimited access to designated Crawl venues, outdoor arena, after show parties and daytime activities.
