THE BULLITTS - LAUGHING
#SundaySongs
I wrote this song years back, in the exact same period I did RAINING.
I still listen to it from time to time because it's an entirely true story about my best friend I grew up with and eventually lost.
Sometimes you're too close to someone for them to take your words seriously.
LYRICS:
Looks like everything, is back to the same as it always was,
You will smile and I will cry,
But I shall not sing, the same silly song that I song because,
It falls on deaf ears,
And I know I cannot walk on air,
Don't make the ground beneath you disappear,
You hurt the ones you hold most dear,
Is any of this getting through?
Where's the friend I used to have?
In retrospect I was a drag,
Surely now you understand,
But you're laughing,
Trouble waters seem so calm,
But the thing that does us harm,
Is the needle in your arm,
Still you're laughing
Goodbye Mr. friend, it seems really strange that we're parting ways,
But we parted long ago,
And I won't pretend, that you didn't say it was just a phase,
But we're learning as we grow
Beneath a Golden Sun...
I will await the dawn, to see if he comes,
I fear the worst but I will run,
To your beckon call, if you fall...
Where's the friend I used to have?
In retrospect I was a drag,
Surely now you understand,
But you're laughing,
Trouble waters seem so calm,
But the thing that does us harm,
Is the needle in your arm,
Still you're laughing
I can be somewhere you can see
the light in the distance
Just hold a thought of me by your side
Just talk. I will listen...
Where's the friend I used to have?
In retrospect I was a drag,
Surely now you understand,
But you're laughing,
Trouble waters seem so calm,
But the thing that does us harm,
Is the needle in your arm,
Still you're laughing
