I was born and raised in New York City. My mother wrote poetry, dad was a film maker, and my uncle played the guitar. I really had few choices in life: Become an artist-musician, or run away to pursue a career as an air conditioner night repairman.
The Buddha Rats started in 1999 as a solo project. I wanted to keep writing and recording as I looked for a new band to play drums in. A new band never materialized, so I kept writing and recording solo (playing piano, bass, guitars, and drums) until Mitch joined as lead guitarist in 2004.
The Buddha Rats aren't looking for fame or fortune. We're not into Star Search, American Idol, or anything like that. Our approach is pure and honest: We just want to write and record to the best of our abilities... to make something from nothing, and have fun in the process.
We hope you will enjoy the show.
