Im what you would probably call a "Music man" from Derby in the midlands.When i was growing up my brother was a musician and as he is quite a bit older than me i was listening to music from a very young age.I was listening to stuff like XTC, Suicide, The specials, The Beat, Kraftwerk, Prefab Sprout, Tom Robinson, Robyn Hitchcock, Human League, Soft Cell and a lot of the early break dance electro stuff, from an early age.By the time i was 20 this was the first time i had money to go out and explore all different types of music.At this time i started exploring the beautiful sounds of intelligent Drum & Bass, especially the good looking label and LTJ Bukem.As with all music one branch then seemed to grow another and i heavily got in to Lonnie Liston Smith then Miles Davis and of course the legendary Bill Evans, Jazz as a whole really.
Today you will find me listening to El Camaron (Spains greatest flamenco singer) im really exploring the nfilm sound track area, especially Henry Mancini and similar i love the arrangements of Claus Ogerman and Quincy Jones.I like Ravel , Rachmaninov, Debussy from the classics. A lot of the latest and older Brazilian music. Then we have the Aphex Twin and radiophonic workshop (bbc experimental electronic sound and music from 1960 onwards).But all this has led for a burning passion for the 80's 90's soul, Jazzfunk, Neo-Soul, Nu- Jazz, Raregrooves, soul/jazz house.To be honest i have rambled on enough about bands so im not going to start naming all my favs from this genre!
