Nigel Bryant (ex-The Fables) met Matt Donovan (ex-Disco Students, The Belles, Blood Oranges etc.) in the band ray On in the late 1990s.
Nigel started The Untied Knot as a solo project in 2005 but soon added Matt’s multi-instrumental talents to transform the project into a fully functioning live unit. The live incarnation consists of Nigel’s acoustic lines translated to electric guitar complemented by Matt's tabla, glockenspiel and synthesizer inventions.
The album "Sketches For A Lost Summer" was released on Sonic Imperfections in June 2009 to a warm reception and received airplay on Stuart Maconie’s Freak Zone (BBC6 Music) in the UK, WFMU in USA & Canal Extremadura in Spain as well as a very positive review from independent retailer Norman Records of Leeds.
