This song continues a regular theme of mine which is to do with the oceans. A think it's a sense of yearning or reaching out to be somewhere else from here. Call it a sea shanty from someone who doesn't live near the sea. I tend not to worry too much about my lyrics and usually write something out 5 minutes before recording but I did put some effort into these. However, The East Village Vampire said I should post lyrics so here goes.

Rain filled the skies and tore out our eyes
Saved our souls on the sacred sea
Waves cast aside as we rode out the tide
Fingers start to bleed

Sun to the west, a simple caress
Saved our souls on the sacred sea
Gold freckled waves as the madman raves
Plagued by a deadly dream

Night falls to the mermaid song
With a tale of where we belong
From the sea we fight to be free
From the sea, the sacred sea

Lashed to the amst when future was past
Saved our souls on the sacred sea
Blood tinged sails held grimly by nails
Laughed at the ghostly scene

Blood filled our mouths as the birds flew south
Saved our souls on the sacred sea
The toll of the bell leads us to hell
From the deep of the sacred sea

Night falls to the mermaid song
With a tale of where we belong
From the sea we fight to be free
From the sea, the sacred sea
