"Oxygen plus any element you like" - THE OXIDES
The Oxides are a four piece all-action, lean, mean fighting machine. Their aim musically is to create songs with classic sing along melodies and powerful, hard hitting, energetic music. They burst onto the Inverness music scene with a hugely anticipated debut in the cities much renowned ‘Mad Hatters/Hootananny’ venue in July 2012 to huge acclaim. Following the gig local blogger ‘Houdi’ stated ‘nobody sounds this f*****g good on a first outing...surely!!’
They have since added a palpable layer to the pounding set with a 2nd guitar player and recent sets have bounced along more fiercely as a result, resulting in a show-stopping headline slot at the recent ‘Winter Showcase’ at the Ironworks where local online magazine/fanzine Invernessgigs said of the performance - ‘The band put their heart and soul into this performance and the perfect slice of indie rock that they served up was a perfect way to round off the evening’ and even went on to name The Oxides as ‘Ones to watch in 2013’ stating ‘Giving us infusions of Nirvana and Oasis, any gig with the Oxides will be worth turning out for’.
The Oxides have already accumulated a mini "cult" status, and the gig diary is filling up, the band have recently completed a successful Highland mini-tour aswell as supporting PAWS (FatCat records), earning more rave reviews in the process.
The band have also recently been booked to perform at the Cavern Club in Liverpool in May as part of the IPO Festival and will also support Parlour Flames (Featuring ex-Oasis member Bonehead) in June.
They have put down a marker and intend on pushing themselves to the limit in 2013.
