Sixties psychedelic folk/rock influenced, 5 piece Birmingham Band with close male and female harmonies, devoted guitars and a beating heart.
“I fell in love with this from bar one - with its arresting vocal, bizarre lyric and glistening ethereal production, it was quite unlike any other music in this week’s inbox. The voice belongs to Rosie Wilkes, the band themselves are from Birmingham, and this track comes from their debut EP Heavy Handed, currently available from their Bandcamp. The latest Mourning Suns single A Cloud was included by Roundhouse Records on their “30/30: Best of 2012” compilation album, for which Roundhouse teamed the group up with producer Dimitri Tikovoi (of Goldfrapp, Placebo, Horrors and John Cale fame). Catch them playing hometown shows at The Yardbird on March 20th and The Flapper on May 4th.”

"The Mourning Suns latest track “A Cloud” - recorded as part of EMI/The Roundhouse’s 30/30 project for 2012-13 - is a stunning foray into the realms of sprawling, folk tinged rock music. Warpaint immediately spring to mind on first listen, as does a touch of the sinisterness of Esben & The Witch. But besides the gorgeous crunch and reverberation of the guitars, there is much to be said for the patience with which TMS both choose and subsequently develop their ideas; the realisations of which are refreshingly well-constrained and ineffably powerful."

"Amazing...harmony infused original songs. Comparisons don't do them justice, but think modern folk music, Kate Bush, St Vincent. Not to be missed."

“They create music that will soon have you expressing joy. The Mourning Suns are wickedly haunting and subtly brilliant.”
