Why sell your soul when you can lose it along the way?
It’s a rhetorical question, I’m basically saying you can sell your soul and end up soulless or you can just live your life how you want and end up the same way. Stick around long enough maybe you’ll end up getting paid. Life’s an absurdist no mare, we are all on the same path, and I need to give myself some sort of meaning, I can work a corporate job but if they don’t have my mind, and my heart, then at least I’m free. When I’m recording, or I’m up on stage giving it, that’s when I’m free. Freedom might only last a 45 minute set, but its enough to get me through till the next show. People get wrapped up in the music business and songs become nothing more then stock symbols on a ticker, buying and selling and trading, that’s not how I want it. We live in maybe the worst time for music, its become the new advertising. People can skip the commercials on TV, so why not just put the ads in someone’s song, and its so true, just listen to pop music, all it is references to companies and drinks and whatever else. I approach music like this, I can do whatever I want, there’s no rules, as long as its honest, and this is the approach the godspot takes. It will connect with the right people, and that’s all I care about, the music I love connects with me for the same reason, and I’m just giving back, so if you think we sound too much like a certain band, well I could give two shits, just enjoy it for Christ sakes.
