My first draft for Treading Water.

Took a leaf from Owl City's book when it comes to lyrics. There's about a million sea related lyrics just crammed in there. The song is about my struggles of late and lack of self motivation, how I'm finding it hard to "stay afloat" financially without the help of others. Anyway, here are the lyrics, I hope you like it!:

The moment I flew the nest
They said to me "It's sink or swim"
    But I let it manifest
    I never passed my test
No need to rub it in.

I thought that some kind soul might rescue me
Before the waves up and swallow me.

I've been floating on my back for so long,
    Not even treading water.
How am I supposed to swim?
Sea spray getting in my ears.
And as my breath gets shorter,
    I don't hear the shore,
But my own voice is louder.

It took a while to really hit the deck,
And even then it keeps on flooding in.
And I've been up to my neck,
Still feeling like such a wreck.
I wish that I could just begin.

I thought that some kind soul might rescue me
Before the waves up and swallow me whole.

I've been floating on my back for so long,
    Not even treading water.
How am I supposed to swim?
Sea spray getting in my ears.
And as my breath gets shorter,
    I don't hear the shore,
But my own voice is louder.
