My style of guitar playing comes from practicing and listening to a lot of music, basically. I won't mention all of my influences here, but enough to give you an idea of my "musical roots".
I explore different genres a lot. I've spent a lot of time playing and listening to "old" blues music for example. From the delta blues to the later British/American blues made especially during the 60's and 70's. I just love it.
My favorite guitar players: Mick Taylor (primarily his work with the Stones). Taylor is probably my number one, if I HAD to pick... oh, and Derek Trucks! Taylor and Trucks are my 2 biggest influences I think. BB King (and the other two kings Freddy and Albert), early Carlos Santana, Paco de Lucia, Peter Green, John McLaughlin, Robben Ford, Michael Bloomfield, Ry Cooder, Duane Allman and so on...
Listening to gospel singers like Mahalia Jackson have helped me recently. Hearing her sing and attempting to play it back, forces me to move away from how a typical guitar player would approach melody and vibrato. John Coltrane has influenced me as well, and many other jazz musicians. I love Indian music and sarod players like Ali Akbar Khan, I'm gonna be digging into that a lot more this year.
My main guitar/the guitar I use is a Gibson Les Paul 1958 Reissue (it can be found on the picture to my instrumental called "Blues Raga").
Check out The Great Escapees, I'm a member of that band.
I'm open for any kind of collaboration - it's fantastic to be able to work with other musicians here.
