Winter is soon over and spring is coming. The transition marks something hope- ful but also a farewell to the well-known. Bastian Kallesøe’s solo project The New Spring marks a passage between the well-known and the unknown. The album is called The New Spring and is a musical embrace of love; an attempt to sketch a musical map of the paradoxical body of love.

The New Spring is an ambitious project. Not only is it a study of the being of love, but also a declaration of love to the music tradition that takes its beginning with the early Leonard Cohen in which the highs and lows of love are explored in fine and vulnerable compositions – with the vocal and guitar as equal elements. The guitar and the voice are each other’s bodies.

About The New Spring Bastian Kallesøe says:
”Through the last couple of years I have wanted to write love songs with a start- ing point in, not the break up, but the beginning or the leap. In a way my project is a humble corrective to the love song as a genre. Only a few love songs make you think of what you need to let go to enter love. What I am trying to explore is the love you experience through a whole life, from the very first crush to the very last. My project is not about a certain love, but about being in love. The crush is the beginning of love and the duality of hope and despair it implicates.”
