About

Let us say that one of Symetrex's sets is a formal dinner party. You will find Joanna Newsom on one side of the table, staring dreamily into her peas. Beside her is Lars Ulrich, drinking copiously in order to swallow his thoughts on copyright infringement. Also in attendance are Beenie Man, Johnny Cash, a mumbling Ozzy Osbourne and Bobby Caldwell, decked out in a maroon leisure suit.

Symetrex is a true tune conoisseur, pairing the stinky cheeses of pop, the sweet wines of old R&B and the red meat of heavy metal to create a throbbing chunk of delicious music history. These disparate corners of music can be heard in any of Symetrex's sets, spun together seamlessly with dubstep, breaks, house, glitch-hop, drum and bass, hardcore, breakcore and moombahton. Symetrex's own career in music began in high school with a drumkit and electric bass, which he traded in for turntables in the age of 19. Two years later, Symetrex began producing his own beats, and he is now one of the most prominent players in the East Coast dubstep scene, traveling throughout the country and leaving a blissfully bassed out, danced out crowd in his wake.

Symetrex is based in Danbury, Connecticut - the industrial city that is the last stop on the New York City Metro North train- literally the end of the line. He can most often be found playing out in Hartford, where his crew, Threshold, paints the city's venues in drum and bass, jungle and dub.
