Written for Lizzie Wort. Played by the Boston Pops string section on New Years Eve. Recorded by a friend but the camera messed up. You can watch it in fast forward and you can watch in reverse but you can't get it to play in the present. I am hoping the image will play in real time again and we can hear it. It is so beautiful when played on acoustic instruments, but also this version I love.
The percussionist and I went through their extensive collection of percussion instruments to find the right bell, the 30 roto-toms, a two chromatic octave set of Chinese gongs, even bells for Mauler Symphonies with heavy hammers to play them...but in the end, he used the glass pyrex mixing bowl I had brought.
The low end melody in the bridge gets a bit lost on some lap-top speakers. This was composed in Reason.
