This Sunday, March 23rd, at "Mile 23" of the Oakland Running Festival at the intersection of 27th and Harrison Streets, Swircle 987 will be performing from 9:20 am till 1:30 pm to over 10,000 runners. All fellow Bay-Area-nites who attend will hear Swircle 987 create new tunes from his old tunes before your very ears! In a DJ/Mashup style, he will mix and match various subsections of his own original musical works discovering 4 hours worth of new, what he likes to call, "Swirculations."

Come check it out!!!

Swircle 987, aka Will Beazley, is an abstractician. An abstractician deals primarily with things in the abstract such as Mathematics, Music, and Art. Swircle 987 is the name Will has given to himself for the purpose of representing his music and art.

Though Will also improvises on keyboards, writes songs for guitar, sings, and practices sound engineering from time to time, his electronic music is often based on the beauty of logic, music theory, and mathematics.

This is no new thing for Will, as he first became, well... obsessed... with the mathematics of music and the music of mathematics at the age of 14. After having been introduced to the connection between math and the arts, he began to research the subject in his own time. Unexpectedly, he ended up using the Math/Music Program he and his brother put together in high school as part of his thesis for his BA in The Mathematics of Music.

To be sure, music has not just been an abstract theoretical object for Will. During those early times, he was also teaching himself composition by composing many songs on his Amiga. All the while, he continued to improvise on piano for more time than is perhaps healthy. ^_~

Of course, Will continued to create music after earning his degree, even though funds only allowed for, let's just say, "classic" software such as Fruity Loops (the first version) and Cakewalk (before it was called Sonar).

Several albums of that later, Will serendipitously stumbled upon an opportunity to obtain more current and powerful production tools. Perhaps ironically, this came about when he created and taught a UC approved Music Production course at a private school. Catching himself up quickly by re-reading several music production magazines about 100 times over again and producing a yet to be published album, Will was able to master the new software himself in less time than less previous experience might have allowed.
Albums!!!: ^_^
Soon thereafter, Will produced and published BASSIC LAHJIC within six months. BASSIC LAHJIC consists of 10 songs which cover a broad range of moods and styles -- from the more ambient "I IV I V" to the harder "I Like This." Common elements throughout include minimalistic structures, spacious atmospheres, and sparse robotic lyrics. Not being a "concept album" as the term is generally used, it is nevertheless an album that exists between EDM and IDM.

About six months later he released OFF tHE BEAtIN PAtHOS. This album maintains a hard, uptempo, and upbeat pace. Although the album itself only contains 10 songs, these 10 songs represent 39 different and quite unique mixes of these 10 songs. Musically, there is a flow from one song to the next, though each song stands on its own. Notably, a few songs began as demonstrations on how he produced "such awesome music, " and soon thereafter became full fledged awesome songs themselves, e.g. "Demonstration." So "Keep Pushing Thru" till you get to the "Other Side" of this album!

Most Recently, Will published "Grayscale Meta-Album: Value 1.0 Sub-Album," which is the first of three sub-albums of this meta-album. Huh?! Well, all 12 songs on this album exist as 3 or more mixes of the same over all respective tunes. Why choose 12 of them to represent 36+ total tracks? That's right, it would be hard! So he didn't. Instead, "Value 1 Sub-Album" carries the lot of the first mixes, with their raw energy and all, soon to be followed by two more sub-albums for the subsequent mixes. In this album, Will musically stretches out from straight four to the floor, 120 to 140 bpm even more than before. New genre realms are explored as well, branching into Electro and Psytrance at times, while maintaining that modernized Old Skool Techno/Electronica sound Swircle 987 has been often heard to emit. A couple collaborations with talented lyricists are also featured on this album, and Will says he's looking forward to more such work in the near future.

Similar descriptions could be put forth for his "Grayscale Meta-Album: Value 0.5 Sub-Album" and "Grayscale Meta-Album: Value 0.0 Sub-Album," which, together with "Grayscale Meta-Album: Value 1.0 Sub-Album," complete the "Grayscale Meta-Album." That said, the "Value 0.5 Sub-Album" and "Value 0.0 Sub-Album" present different states of the same set of 12 songs represented on this meta-album. The prior conveys a most wonderful display of limbo-like qualities - between the raw energy of the first mixes and the more esoteric qualities of the third and fourth mixes - being themselves the second mixes of each tune. The latter sub-album features those more "out there" experiences of each of the 12 pieces, giving an altogether different reality than those of the prior sub-albums. Each sub-album is truly worthy of existing within for more than a fair share of your music-listening time, and together offer multiple worlds of sound within which to live for multiple lifetimes.

All in all, the "Grayscale Meta-Album" is far beyond "well worth the listen," and more aptly deemed "well worth the live in."

"I am very grateful to all those at SoundCloud who've now collectively listened to my songs well over 10,000 times and downloaded my tunes over 900 times! It's a wonderful thought to know people all over the world are listening to my music, and perhaps a couple people in rather disparate parts of the world are rocking out to one of my songs right now!

So, thanks!"
