Most noted for lively outdoor performances, The Swanvesta Social Club arrived on the music scene following the release of Never Mind the Bongos, featuring the now celebrated salsa version of the The Kaiser Chiefs’ I Predict a Riot. In 2007 they headlined the Exmoor Folk Festival where music journalist Rob Hopcott described their performance as “monumental”. 2008 and 2009 saw them playing alongside the Oysterband and Seth Lakeman at The Two Rivers Festival and at the Leamington Peace Festival with Attila the Stockbroker and 3 Daft Monkeys.
The 2009 EP, Songs from the Latin Quarter, includes a Latin-ska version of the Max Martin song ...Baby One More Time. The band played at the 2010 Rhythms of The World festival in Hitchin together with Get Cape-Wear Cape-Fly, Glen Matlock and Hugh Cornwell and were welcomed back to the main stage in 2011, with Ska Cubano and The Selecter. In 2011 the first album, The Inauthentic Sound of Cuba, was released and features original tunes, traditional Cuban songs and quirky Latin interpretations of contemporary chart music.
