The debut album from Vancouver's Sunnyboy Jazz is an abstract musical love letter of sorts to Vancouver and British Columbia, the place he has called home his entire life.
1. Vancouverism
On the title track Sunnyboy Jazz combines Dub, Downtempo, Jazz, Jungle and Dubstep to create a deep, experimental Vancouver sound.
2. BC Sensi
Next on the EP, Sunnyboy Jazz pays tribute to BC's favourite flower and goes to space with his Rhodes piano, floating over abstract dub textures, electronic rhythms, and experimental soundscapes.
3. City of Glass
With an obvious nod to Vancouver's most famous author, Douglas Coupland, Sunnyboy Jazz fashions an atmospheric, dancefloor-friendly track, with elements of Deep House, Broken Beat, NuJazz, Funk, Dub, and NuDisco.
4. Union Street
On the last track of the album, Sunnyboy goes deep with a BrokenBeat/NuJazz soulshaker. With soulful, jazz-inflected Rhodes piano riding over sleek broken beats, analog synths, hypnotic samples and a massive SH-101 synth bassline, Sunnyboy Jazz takes the listener on one last ride to the soulside.
