About
Stylus Dust are three London based friends who have been writing and recording together in their bedroom studio since 2010. They released their debut EP at the end of that year through 5000 Records, following on from a remix of The Knocks 'Make It Better' single. A further commission for Gotye (In Your Light) followed in 2012, along with their well received mix of St Lucia's ‘Closer Than This' single for Neon Gold.
With the warmth of Sarah's vocal and their core electronic sound, early comparisons were inevitable with acts like Goldfrapp and St Etienne, but Stylus Dust soon established their own distinct identity through their rich lyrics, detailed production, and characteristic sense of melodic beauty.
After a run of gigs in 2011 culminating in a showcase night at the inSpiral Cafe in London's Camden, the band returned to the studio to record their follow up EP. The resulting seven tracks demonstrate a much wider musical scope, with the band taking cues from a more diverse range of influences - from classical music and sound design right through to techno and glitch electronics.
Elsewhere, in the summer of 2012, the band signed a non-exclusive sync deal with the American company Blue Buddha, and also put together a number of promo videos through in-house film maker Mike.
The band is currently looking for a new label to start work with for a release in 2013, whilst working on a new set of videos for the new tracks. A feature on the band was published on Subba-Cultcha.com's online magazine in December.
