About
Strictly Business is a new venture for me we are now a trio consisting of myself Imran, and DJs Leon Wanless & Nick Dagger. Playing our own electro-funk, nu-disco and deep house reedits and tracks. Apart from our regular DJ gigs we are residents In the Snug at Beat-Herder Festival, Love Shack at Solfest and the Nut-Shack at Nuts in May.
Little bit about myself: Apart from my family music pretty much consumes my life, and has done from a very early age. I have been DJing for around nearly two decades which include residencies for 2Kinky and Angels in the late nineties, and soon after the big Proper Records events, Resident DJ at the Warehouse, as well as being an integral part of the line up at most of the free parties around the Lake District throughout the last decade. I’ve also been promoting and running events for just over half that time. Gary Jarman (co-owner of Proper Records), myself and Toby Weymouth from Acme Bass were the first people to put on a successful, long running weekly underground dance music night in Lancaster at the now infamous Warehouse Night Club, guaranteeing a packed house week on week. We showcased, and also gave an opportunity for some of the best up and coming break-beat, drum & bass and house music talents around the area at that time; Gella, Andy Jarrod, Jinx In Dub. We gave them a opening to play out to a decent crowd and an opportunity to play in a professional setting which many of them had never done so before, some of them have now become successful DJs or recording artists.
I’m now back in the studio with my old writing partner Jinx, it’s something I miss very much, as I spent a great deal of my time in the studio a few years back with Andy Davis who now successfully records as Gella, and my close friend and writing partner Joss Braund (Jinx) doing remixes, as well as having our own releases on Burrito and the Proper Records label. In addition I spent a little time at Planet City Studios writing music with Jude ‘Proteus’ Sebastian too, who was the genius producer, engineer and the man behind the scenes for koma&Bones, Blady, Andy Jarrod and many other successful underground dance music acts over the last few decades.
