PRESS RELEASE:
As the buzz cloud emanating off of Stranjjur's debut release from Lula Circus continues to rotate in the stratosphere surrounding Brooklyn; the fledgling new imprint now shakes the dust from it's boots and reloads it's weaponry with new ammunition. With the world's biggest underground dancefloors carefully aligned in it's crosshairs, Stranjjur now readies it's sophomore offering; this time coming from another young Italian artist named Andrew Soul.
When a label's first release is met with as much critical acclaim and DJ support as Lula Circus' Miami Vices EP, it's certainly an enviable task for the label to insure that the quality remains intact on release number two. Andrew's "Switching Positions EP" shows that the young label is more than up to the task, and this time the overall focus is redirected from the modern nu-disco flare that dominated Lula Circus' EP,to a more traditional Chicago meets Detroit blueprint; helping to showcase the label's diversity. For STRANJJ-002, Andrew has turned in a brilliant quartet of original cuts; -- each one different from the next -- all sharing three distinct qualities: deep analog bass lines, lots of drum machine action, and tons of soul.
The vinyl edition of the Switching Positions EP starts off with 'Close To You' on the A1 position. A unique bass-driven modern funk jam that will shake any sound system to it's core, 'Close to You' shows us Andrew's affinity for deep and powerful low end grooves. Following Close to You is an amazing remix to Andrew's digital only cut, entitled Saturday Love Night. The remix is done by the talented up and coming artist Baldo, and it takes aim at the peak hour floors with a jackin' drum machine assault and a monster bass groove.
Leading off the b-side is the likely crowd favorite, a sleazy detroit-style reworking turned in by Detroit's favorite bad boy, Kris Wadsworth. Kris makes good use of "Do That Again"'s cheeky, sex-driven vocal samples and rearranges them to work into the groove effortlessly. This is deep, late-night house music, intended for the mature dancefloors, and it's sure to get the sweat on the walls and the feet on the floor. The original version of Do That Again caps off the vinyl on the B2once again showing Andrew's amazing ability to construct highly addictive grooves.
The digital version features two amazing digital bonus cuts, 'Believing in a World More' and 'Saturday Love Night' could easily be a-side tunes in their own right, and they serve as the perfect way to round out an excellent EP from an artist who is on the verge of making a very big statement to the world.
In the pipeline for Stranjjur will be the Orunjj Sky EP from Maiki, with remix pressure dealt out by two of the finest minds in the business; Marcin Czubala and Audio Soul Project (Mazi); as well as more additional EPs and remixes from artists such as WiLDKATS, Andreas Saag, John Dimas, Cosmic Cowboys and many more.
