About
When pop music was young, it was best. Everybody knows that. So it’s hardly surprising that it’s the influences from those golden days that define the music of STEREO INN. „Visitors“ is the title of the band’s latest release and more than ever their music evokes memories of our parents’ record collection that we all want to inherit some day. There’s nothing but originals: The Beatles are lined up next to the Beach Boys and the obligatory Dylan records. And in the eighties, the Housemartins also made it onto the shelf. Feel-good pop from the sixties and eighties meets Folk-guitars and a classic Singer/Songwriter attitude. Miraculously however, STEREO INN never even come near the copy-cat trap. Instead, they draw from all those sources of inspiration with such easiness and subtlety that the result is just a collection of refreshingly unique and modern but timeless songs. Two lead singers trade melodies like they’ve been sung to sleep by Brian Wilson himself as toddlers and you can’t help but admit that these guys harmonize in a way only real friends can. Accordingly, STEREO INN is not a band that wants to show off. Their songs focus on real people, mundane events and feelings, which is why it’s so easy to connect. When you listen to “Visitors” and those songs about departure, good-bye and reunion it’s impossible to stay away from melancholy. Fortunately, with this band, you can always count on the sunrise at the end of each 3-minute track.
