Stay is an indie psych pop band from Barcelona. After the release of two demos, Stay (2001) and As Another Girl (2003) the english label Matchbox Recordings released the third EP , So Slow (2004). That release and a more personal sound, very careful tunes and guitar work truly influenced by Britpop and madchester scene, made possible a record deal with Wild Thing Records (Madrid) in 2004. Starting to lose control (WTR, 2005) is the first LP and two singles were extracted from this. The band keep on their influences but also have a look to late-60’s american sound and vocals work from bands like CSN&Y or The Byrds. Good reviews permitted the band to play in important national festivals like Primavera Sound 06, Bilborrok or on the TV program Conciertos de RNE3. Things you cannot see (WTR, 2007) is the second album and follows the path of the first one but with a more authentic sound, more warm, that experiments with the psychedelia and the Spencer Davis-like soul. As a result, hammonds, sitar, theremin, farfisa keyboard and moogs hold a work full of pop, soul, garage and a delicious psychedelic freak-beat. The new reviews are really good and hopeful, and Stay is almost everyday on the Chema Rey’s radio show Bulevar (RNE3) Being awarded a Pop-Eye prize for the best 2008 psychedelic band, Stay appears in important national fests like Lemon Pop or EasyPopWeekend. Kashmir Reflection EP (Bip-Bip Records, 2008) was the Stay’s last work by now, and it completed their last psychedelic album. Kashmir Reflection EP has to be thought as a continuing story of “Things you cannot see”, with fresh sitar psychdelic arrangements and live-recordings developments. “I feel you around” is the first track and its video has been awarded in a national music video contest (CLHIPS 08). There is a special cover version of Strawberry Alarm Clock’ and a groovy remix of Super Heavy Soul Mammoth Explosion by Roger Rodés ( Posies, Jon Auer). On december 08, Stay released a new work by Fruits de Mer Records (UK) that includes classic tracks written by The Rolling Stones ('2,000 Light Years From Home'), Graham Nash ('Chicago') and the Strawberry Alarm Clock ('Rainy Day, Mushroom Pullow'). In coloured 7” vinyl. The last album 'Passport to Freedom'(Subterfuge 2010), which was recorded in Barcelona between June and October 09, included vocals collaboration by Daniel Wylie (exCosmic Rough Riders) and Jero Romero (The Sunday Drivers). Stay opened for Liam Galagher's Beady Eye in Madrid in 2011. We released a new LP in september 2012:"The Fourth Dimension" (Subterfuge Records) and recently played in several uk and german fests and as a support band of Pretty Things and Ocean Colour Scene. we are about to release now a new EP:Mersey Dream (Fruits de Mer Records/Subterfuge) on 26thNov 2013. This is our reason to live. Welcome to Stay’s world.
