This is conservative farming country. For years, wheat and onions were main crops here. But, a couple of decades ago, a first generation Italian-American moved to the area and decided to try to grow grapes for his own wine. Little did he know that his experiment would turn into an explosion of economic growth for the town of Walla Walla just decades later.
