About

Spherex (real name Christopher Smith, born 1983) is an American dj and producer specializing in electronic music that ranges from Ambient, Grime, Breaks, Techno, Tech House, IDM, and Breakcore...

Spherex was 'discovered' in late 2005 by IDM producer Edenflux (Bob Foley), who took interest in the sounds Chris was creating "on the fly" using a drum machine sequenced with an arpeggiator. The two began mashing their sounds in the studio and even generated a highly experimental song unlike any other called "Winter Solitude". Spherex had also attracted the attention of a Noise net-label called "Non Quality Audio" which released Chris's 'improvised noise music'...

In late 2006, Spherex decided to enter the realm of DJ'ing. He collected audio parts and built cabinets for his own sound system, still being used today. From there, Chris also acquired a projector and explored video manipulations and generating his own artwork, tweaking video while simultaneously mixing music.
