"Shruburbia EP" by Greg Bird & Flamingo Flame

7 tracks, 28.41 Speech Fewapy Records on February 02, 2011 22:35

Submerging 80’s electro pop in a shoegaze shimmer as if Grunge never happened, Greg Bird and Flamingo Flame bring the Gothic Groove of ‘Shruburbia’ to you via Speech Fewapy Records.

Since the hiatus of filth funketeers and Birmingham post genre demi-gods, Sunset Cinema Club, co-frontman and bassist Greg locked himself away during the tail end of 2009, self producing his washed out debut EP.

Mastered by Greg’s SCC partner, Dom James, ‘Shruburbia’ is seven tracks of hazy melodic electronica borne out of a deep love of Prince, The Cocteau Twins and a healthy comic book obsession. Ambient synths and falsetto hooks straight out of the decade that taste forgot slip-slide fluently across chorus pedals, drum machines and shoulder snapping bass lines.

“Flamingo Flame is all about one mans adventure through his record collection, exploring the sounds of the artists he loves and I feel privileged that we get to glimpse the interior of his crazed time machine.” – Adam Smith – Totally Bone

Slip on the white blazer, crack open the Babycham and party like it’s 1985.
