About
South East Wilson is an artist born to the small town of Sumter, SC. Growing up in a home where his father played the guitar daily and sang rhythm and blues and soul music made it easy for South East to hone in on his musical talent. He first began his journey into the world of hip hop as a B-boy and a Graf artists but soon discovered the power of emceeing when his brother began recording demos. Soon to come was his own desire for writing verses to master the craft of rapping. However, he first discovered the art of poetry with the passing of his grandmother. His mother asked him to write a poem for her passing and in doing so he discovered his ability to rhyme words as well as convey his own feelings in doing so.
In his teenage years he concentrated on learning to write full songs with a concept versus just rapping and making hooks. South East Wilson started finding other emcees in his area and together they started working on putting out music together. However they didn't have anyone to produce their songs. Growing tired of rhyming to instrumentals of signed artist South East Wilson started yearning to produce his own recordings. He received a drum machine from his brother who at the time was still recording his own music with the group that he was a part of. After learning how to use the drum machine South East Wilson came to grips with the fact that he had no way to record songs without having to spend all day to get a close to perfect recording, he learned about 4 track machines. His father stepped in and helped him to get one and thus began the artist who could produce and record his own music.
South East Wilson's most notable moments thus far in his career have been producing, writing, and touring with the group Beat Junction Project. Together they were a hip hop group that seemed to be reaching past the borders of their region until they all agreed to work on separate projects due to creative differences. Even after the groups break up South East Wilson found one of his solo songs on their debut album receiving praise as one of South Carolina's best song's released between 1980 through 2010 according to the Free Times, a paper for local clubs and artists. He has also produced albums for Choice, Miss Jay, and himself all of which will be heard if you stay tuned.
In the mean time thank you for taking your time to learn about South East Wilson and feel free to fallow along. He has tons of music to be released.... some for free some for your support. In either case it's all good music for your enjoyment.
